Got your garden planted? There’s lots of activity on both rooftops as the growing season officially gets underway.
While you’re waiting for your peas to grow, maybe you can pick some up at the West End Farmer’s Market?
Also, did you hear that the Westin is now offering paddleboard yoga in their outdoor pool? Oh, yeah, this is clearly the best place to live.
June 2018 events:
Our little Co-op has just turned twenty, and there has been lots and lots of planning happening behind the scenes to create a celebration.
There will be two events, both taking place on Saturday, June 23, 1018:
- A Family-Friendly Afternoon BBQ and
- An Adults-only Rooftop Cocktail Soiree
In order to attend either or both events, you MUST BE:
- A current member of the Coal Harbour Housing Co-op (and their immediate family) or
- A former member of the Coal Harbour Housing Co-op (and their immediate family)
The afternoon event will run from 1-4 pm in the courtyard. There will be a fun BBQ, lots of games and activities for the kids, and maybe some sangria for the grownups!
The evening event will take place on the roof of B building from 7-10:30 pm. Beer and wine will be served, and we’ll have a DJ spinning tunes.
YOU MUST RSVP TO ATTEND. THE DEADLINE FOR RSVPS IS JUNE 18.

Happy to report the construction on the B Building entrance is finally complete, and that main entrance is now acessable again, with brand new stairs and wheelchair ramp.
Here’s what’s happening in Vancouver during the merry ol’ month of May:
Our little co-op opened its doors for the first time in February, 1998, and families started moving in. The neighbourhood was a lot different back then–there were less businesses, less towers, the PAL was yet to be built.
We still have a lot of those original members, and others who have come, contributed, and then gone on to other places.
We would like to hold a celebration/party to celebrate our 20th anniversary in mid-late June, and we need your help!
Our vision is to host an afternoon-long event; something more family-friendly for the younger crowds in the afternoon (akin to our usual summer social BBQ) and then something on the roof for the older folks later in the evening. We’d also like to include some kind of legacy project; something that marks where we’ve been, and will be there for the future, as well.
We need help on many fronts:
- Soliciting donations
- Legacy Project
If you are interested, please join us Wednesday night at 7 pm, April 25 in the Amenity Room.
The days are getting longer, and we are starting to see warmer days and cherry blossoms, but April looks to be pretty rainy….
